Pun With Lower Case I In Front Of It

Fuck it. I’m getting an iPad.

But why is it so hard to work out the pricing structure if I go with the 3G option? I Googled four different telco’s, and only three had paid search results leading me to the correct place. Two of those asked me to register my interest and told me they’ll get back to me at some point (never). And the one remaining is my current provider who doesn’t give me reception in my own house.

One of the telco’s has an amazing opportunity to get a massive share of the iPad market. Too bad they’re all fucking it up.

That, and the fact they’re all bloody expensive, is the reason I’ll probably go with the WiFi only version.

None are in a hurry to release their offers just yet – there won't be any customers wanting to buy their access until after delivery anyway. Watch the hot deals in two weeks' time!

    I've ordered the 3G model 😉

wifi only is a waste … the device is made to be consumed out and about and our wifi is rubbish.

the ipad with a good, robust 3G connection at a decent price (ie below $40 pm for 700mb or more) is a really powerful, functional piece of kit.

had mine 2 weeks, really like it

Got to agree with Ben – i got the 3G from the US – Love it! but when the iPad is offline it's really frustrating…

I'm using the $1 pay-as-you-go plan from TPG (just don't tell them it's for an iPad) – http://www.tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.html comes with 50meg data, and then $0.0275 Per MB ($27.50 per Gig)

I figure that some months I'll never use any data, and some that I'll use heaps so this was the way to go for me…

(and FYI, turning a normal sim into a micro-sim is easy as pie)

I've decided that I'm going with the Optus $80 for 8GB (six-month expiry) deal… Details here.

That's at this stage – still waiting for a couple of telcos to announce their deals.
